The amount of bed bug infestations has been on the rise in the past few recent years. In these years 95% of pest control or pest management companies have reported an increase in bed bug infestations. In the years before 2000 only about 25% of the pest control companies surveyed had encountered bed bug infestations. In American now it’s reported that 1 out of every 5 Americans has had or knows someone who has a bedbug infestation.  The most of these infestations occurred in the home or in a hotel as reported by the NPMA (National Pest Management Association) survey.

The NPMA has reported a bed bug activity report on a national scale. The results for this survey found that from the East Coast to the West Coast bedbugs are found everywhere in the United States. The numbers or percentages where the bedbug infestations were by region are as follows: 17% of bed bugs of the United States were found in the Northeast; 20 percent of the infestations were in the Midwest region; 20% bedbug infestations were located in the South; and finally 19% of the national wide bedbug infestations were found in the west.
